The Story of Frames and Things, Bude Cornwall.
Frames and Things was first opened in a small shopping arcade by John Stratton in 1972, who retired in 1986 when the current owner John (Tanky) Williams bought the business after retiring from the Royal Navy. John Stratton sadly passed away in the early 1990's, a short while after the business expanded when the current premises were purchased. The business continues to be able to give an excellent choice of approximately 250 mouldings and the majority of framing work can be completed within 7 days, with very competative pricing.
All framing work is carried out on the premises, printing work can sometimes be done while you wait, apart from canvases where 24 hours is needed for the ink to cure prior to stretching.
A steady expansion programme carried on for a number of years when in 2004 Gicle'e printing was added to the wide range of services provided to customers. This has been done with an Epson 7600 Inkjet Pro Printer and Fujifilm media and software. An upgrade of the printer to an Epson 7880 has just been made ULTRACHROME K3 inks. (Epson UltraChrome K3 ink has improved print permanence characteristics that provide lightfastness ratings of up to 108 years for color and over 200 years for black and white under rigorous industry accepted display conditions) . We specialise in printing photographs onto artist canvas and stretching over both standard, and the much deeper gallery stretchers, depending on work load we can normally give a 24 hour service. Other media is available and we can print to A1+ size, again with very competative pricing, but with that added personal touch.
